Belfield Settlement History

Settlement of the area dates from 1810 when the first land grants were made, with land used mainly for farming. Population was minimal until the early 1900s. Growth took place from the 1920s, when the War Service Homes Commission acquired many acres of land and built houses. Expansion continued during the post-war years. The population generally increased from the early 1990s as new dwellings were added to the area.
