Bexley North is named for the area north of Bexley, which was named after a village in Kent, England.
Bexley North Settlement History
Settlement of the area dates from the early 1800s when the area was used mainly for farming. Population was minimal until the 1850s, with more substantial growth in the 1880s and 1890s. Significant development occurred in the interwar period and post-war years, following the opening of the railway line in the 1930s. The population has increased slightly since the mid 1990s, a result of new medium and high density dwellings being added to the area.
