Castle Hill Name Origin
Castle Hill is named after a former orchard in the area.
Castle Hill Settlement History
Settlement of the area dates from 1801 when a government farm worked by convicts was established. Population was minimal until the late 1800s and early 1900s, aided by improvements in access and transport, and the establishment of many orchards. The most significant development occurred in the post-war years, particularly from the 1970s. The population continued to increase from the early 1990s, a result of new dwellings being added to the area, particularly medium and high density housing.
