Clovelly Name Origin

Clovelly is named after a fishing village in Devon, England. It was previously known as Little Coogee.

Clovelly Settlement History

Settlement of the area dates from the 1830s, although population was minimal until the late 1800s. Growth took place in the early 1900s, aided by the extension of the tram line. Significant development took place in the post-war years, particularly during the 1960s and 1970s. The population and dwelling stock were relatively stable between 1991 and 2006. The population increased slightly between 2006 and 2011.
