Concord is thought to be named after a place in Massachusetts, USA.
Concord Settlement History
Settlement of the area dates from 1793 when the first land grants were made. Land was used mainly for farming and industry. Growth took place during the late 1800s and early 1900s, spurred by extensive subdivision. Significant development did not occur until the post-war years, when many industrial sites were redeveloped into apartments and townhouses, and swamp land was reclaimed for golf courses. The population increased slightly from the early 1990s as new dwellings were added to the area, particularly medium and high density housing.
