Darling Point Settlement History
Settlement of the area dates from the 1830s, spurred by improved access. Population was minimal until the late 1800s and early 1900s when many mansions and grand terraces were constructed. Significant development occurred during the immediate post-war years, with many high-rise apartments and other forms of high-density housing built. The population and dwelling stock have been relatively stable since the early 1990s.
