East Ryde Settlement History
Settlement of the area dates from the 1790s, with land used mainly for farming. Population was minimal until the late 1800s and early 1900s. Significant development did not occur until 1955, with rapid growth during the 1960s. The population fluctuated slightly during the 1990s, and then was relatively stable between 2001 and 2011, a result of little change in dwelling stock and the average number of persons living in each dwelling.
