Grays Point Name Origin

Grays Point is thought to be named after Samuel William Gray, an early landholder, or after John Edward Gray, a resident ranger in the National Park in the late 1800s.

Grays Point Settlement History

Settlement of the area dates from the mid 1800s, although population was minimal until 1910 when land was first subdivided. Significant development did not occur until the 1950s and 1960s when many lots were re-subdivided. The population has fluctuated slightly since the early 1990s, a result of small changes in dwelling stock and the average number of persons living in each dwelling.

Grays Point Features

Major features of the area include Grays Point Oval, Mansion Point Park, Swallow Rock Reserve, Grays Point and Grays Point Public School.
