Hinchinbrook Name Origin

Hinchinbrook is named after the Hinchinbrook Creek which flows through the area. It was originally known as Woodside.

Hinchinbrook Settlement History

Settlement of the area dates from the early 1800s, with land used mainly for orchards, vineyards and dairy farms. Significant development did not occur until the 1980s. Rapid growth continued in the 1990s, slowing from 1996. The population increased slightly between 2001 and 2011 as fewer new dwellings were added to the area.
