Hurlstone Park Name Origin
Hurlstone Park is named after the Agricultural High School which was located in the area.
Hurlstone Park Settlement History
Settlement of the area dates from the late 1800s, although the first land grant was in 1799. Significant development occurred in the 1890s, when a commitment was made to construct the railway. Following the completion of the railway line, the Fern Hill Station Estate was auctioned in 1895 and was bought by retailers, tradespersons and professionals. The population declined slightly between 1991 and 2006, and then increased marginally between 2006 and 2011 as new dwellings were added to the area.
