North Wahroonga Name Origin
North Wahroonga is named for the area north of Wahroonga, which is named from an Aboriginal word meaning 'our home'.
North Wahroonga Settlement History
Settlement of the area dates from 1822 when timber-getting was established. Land was used mainly for orchards and farms from the 1840s. Some growth took place from 1890. Significant development occurred in the post-war years. The population declined slightly from the early 1990s, a result of few new dwellings being added to the area and a decline in the average number of persons living in each dwelling.
North Wahroonga Features
Major features of the area include Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Cliff Reserve, Fraser Park, Golden Jubilee Field and Jubes Mountain Bike Park.
