Padstow Name Origin

Padstow and Padstow Heights are named after the town of Padstow in Cornwall, England. Padstow was originally known as Padstow Park Estate.

Padstow Settlement History

Settlement of the area dates from the late 1800s, with land used mainly for timber-getting and farming. Significant development did not occur until the late 1920s, spurred by the construction of the railway line. Rapid growth took place in the immediate post-war years, including public housing construction. The population increased slightly from the early 1990s as new dwellings were added to the area.
