Randwick Name Origin

Randwick is named after Randwick in Gloucestershire, England, the birthplace of Simeon Pearce, first mayor of the district.

Randwick Settlement History

Settlement of the area dates from the late 1780s, although population was minimal until the early 1800s. Some growth took place in the 1840s, with more substantial growth from the 1880s. Expansion continued during the early 1900s and the interwar period. Significant development occurred during the post-war period, when many flats were built. The population and dwelling stock were relatively stable between 1991 and 2006, and then increased slightly between 2006 and 2011.
