Revesby North Name Origin

Revesby is named after the English home of botanist Sir Joseph Banks.

Revesby North Settlement History

Settlement of the area dates from the early 1800s. Some growth took place in the late 1800s, with land used mainly for orchards and poultry farms. Significant development did not occur until the 1930s, spurred by the opening of the railway to East Hills. Rapid growth took place in the immediate post-war years, aided by public housing construction. The population increased slightly from the mid 1990s as new dwellings were added to the area, particularly medium density housing.
