Rosehill Name Origin

Rosehill is named after Sir George Rose, a British Treasury official.

Rosehill Settlement History

Settlement of the area dates from the late 1780s, with land used mainly for farming. Population was minimal until the late 1800s, with industrial development during the early 1900s. The most significant residential development occurred during the post-war years. The population increased substantially between 1991 and 1996 and again between 2006 and 2011 as new high and medium density dwellings were added to the area and dwelling occupancy rates increased.

Rosehill Features

Major features of the area include Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, Elizabeth Farm, Elizabeth Farm Reserve, the Rosehill railway station and one school.
